The Kolkata Knight Riders defeat the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 at Abu Dhabi. CSK even after getting to a flying start choked and failed to chase down the target of 168. Speaking at the end of the game, Kolkata skipper Dinesh Karthik admitted that he had complete trust in his spinners which paid off.

Shane Watson was once again brilliant at the top order as he recorded back to back fifties in the tournament. The Australian scored 50 from 40 deliveries and till he was on the crease it seemed like CSK will clinch the match with few overs to spare.

Kolkata Knight Riders Win By 10 Runs

However, the momentum of the match completely changed in the middle overs were KKR introduced spinners. Both Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy made full use of the conditions and kept a lid on the scoring rate and also picked crucial wickets.

MS Dhoni was the only hope for CSK, but he too fell trying to hit a big stroke when he was on 11. Ultimately CSK fell 10 runs short and KKR completed a stunning turnaround.

There are some key players for every time- Dinesh Karthik

Earlier in the match, on the back of Rahul Tripathi’s 81 KKR put on 167 runs on the board. Kolkata Knight Riders lost impetus in the later overs but a quickfire knock from Pat Cummins took them to a respectable total. Moreover, it proved to be a match-winning total as CSK once again faltered in the end.

Here’s what the winning captain Dinesh Karthik had to say in the post-match presentation

“There are some key players for every time. Narine is one for us. Least we can do is back him. 2-3 poor games, doesn’t matter. Good to see Tripathi do the job at the top. The good thing about Russ is he’s very versatile”.

“He can bat slightly up, slightly down. Our batting is very fluid. I started at three, today I batted at seven. The way those guys batted at the start, they batted very well. Back end I’ve a lot of trust in Sunil and Varun, paid off,” said Dinesh Karthik post the win against CSK.
