Team India led by Captain Virat Kohli played exceptional cricket for the past two years to earn a slot in the finals of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final. India’s good streak of performances was once again broken by New Zealand as they defeated India in the thriller final clash by 8 wickets. There was a very good battle between the top 2 Test sides but Kane Williamson and men outperformed Virat Kohli and company.

New Zealand performed incredibly well on the reserve day which was the 6th Day of the match and did better than India in all three aspects of the game. The blackcaps were crowned as the champions after winning an ICC trophy after 2 decades at Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

Meanwhile Indian skipper Virat Kohli was obviously dissatisfied and disappointed with the loss as India was considered as the favorite to win the title. Speaking about the loss in the press conference Virat Kohli addressed the need for a three-match Test to decide the winner of the World Test Championship Final.

“I am not in absolute agreement of deciding the best Test side in the world over the course of one game. If it is a Test series, it has to be a test of character over three Tests – which team has the ability to come back in the series or totally blow away the other team,” the 32-year-old asserted after the game.

Are the IPL going to reduce the year of the final tournament? Michael Vaughan

Virat Kohli’s statement about the final has become a point of discussion for cricket fans and experts across the world. However fans are divided on this discussion, some agreed with Kohli’s statement and backed him others bashed him regarding his comment.

Former England’s cricketer Michael Vaughan falls in the second category. Vaughan reacted to Kohli’s statement on Twitter and stated that scheduling a three-match test series for the WTC final doesn’t seem a realistic decision because of the tight schedule.

“He also highlighted that final are one-off games and players have to give their best performance in that match. “Where in the schedule would it fit in ?? Are the IPL going to reduce the year of the final tournament by 2 weeks so it could fit in ? Doubt it ..: Finals are one off games where teams/individuals know they have to deliver … that’s what makes them so great,” Vaughan tweeted.

In the meantime, India is all set to face the next challenge in Test cricket as they are going to face England in England in a five-match Test series. Virat Kohli and company defeated England at home earlier this year before qualifying for the WTC final. It will interesting to will India win once again or England will look to settle the scores by winning.
