The latest controversy that has shaken the cricketing world is of Yasir Shah who has been accused of aiding an alleged sexual assault. Following the controversy, Pakistan cricket board chief Ramiz Raja has weighed in on his views about the incident.
He went on to say that such headlines were not good for Pakistan cricket. He added that players are regularly given counseling on their ‘ambassadorial’ roles.
“It is a no-brainer, Yasir is a circuit player and while we train and educate these players they are in ambassadorial positions and should know with whom and where to socialize,” Ramiz said at a press conference on Wednesday.
“I don’t know what is the truth in this case but it is a fact that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when there is a feel-good factor going through Pakistan Cricket now. It is a no-brainer that they must know with whom or when to socialize,” Ramiz said. “ the PCB Chairman said.
Yasir Shah was named in an FIR filed by a couple at Islamabad’s Shalimar Police station in which he allegedly aided his friend while knowing that he had raped their niece who is 14 years old.
The FIR states that when the couple approached Yasir for help, he made fun of them and gave life threats to them and their nice while also threatening them to use his influence to drag them into legal battles. This has certainly infuriated the new PCB chairman who believes in the ambassadorial role cricketers have.
Yasir Shah missed out on the latest Bangladesh tour due to injury and this would certainly make a huge dent in Yasir Shah’s International career if the accusations are proven with the PCB Chairman openly criticizing Yasir Shah.
