Indian Batsman Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly one of the most talented cricketers going around. He is the mainstay of the India batting line-up in limited-overs cricket. The opener has always faced criticism for his performance in Test cricket. But looking at the last couple of years, it is fair to say, Rohit has cemented his place in the Indian Test team. He is India’s first-choice opener in Test cricket.

Former India cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi describes Rohit as the best batsman in the world.

“A lot here depends on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara – how these three batsmen catch form in the upcoming series. We all know that, in his elegance, Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world,” Sodhi said on India News.

Sodhi also stated that initially, Rohit was struggling in Test Cricket, but now has stamped his authority. When Rohit is in the groove, he can counter any opposition in the world.

“He was definitely struggling in Test cricket if we talk about sometime back. But now he has stamped his authority in Test cricket. He is a special player as an opener. When he plays he can take the match away for the opposition in a matter of moments.”

In the ICC World Test Championship 2019-2021 cycle, Rohit Sharma was India’s second-highest run-getter. He was sixth on the Most Runs table, just behind Indian Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane. Rohit scored 1094 runs in 12 matches at a staggering average of 60.77. His run tally included two hundred’s and four fifties, with 212 being his best. The opener performed decently in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. He along with Shubman Gill gave India valuable starts at the top of the order.

The India team will play a five-match test series against England, starting from August 4. With the English weather conditions and the pitches on offer, Rohit Sharma will be the player to watch out for.
