The Lanka Premier League is all set to get underway from November 21. The final will be played on December 13. The draft for the tournament was held a few days ago with the various franchises buying their set of local and international players.
Meanwhile, in what comes as big news as per Times of India, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his family has bought the Kandy Tuskers franchise in the tournament. The investment has been made by Sohail Khan, his younger brother, and father Salim Khan who have a share in the team’s ownership as well.
The Khan family is a big supporter of the game of cricket and Sohal Khan said that the league has a lot of potentials.
“Given the players in our team, the league in general, and the passion of the fans, which are second to none, we see a lot of potential,” Sohail Khan told The Times of India.

Salman Khan Buys Kandy Tuskers In Lanka Premier League
Bollywood and cricket has been an entertaining affair in the past as well. Two of Bollywood’s biggest names Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta bought their own IPL teams back in 2008 to start the trend. Slowly the two invested in foreign T20 leagues as well. While Shahrukh owns the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL, Zinta owns the St Lucia Zouks led by Darren Sammy.
Meanwhile, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, David Miller amongst others were the overseas superstars who were drafted by various franchises in the Lanka Premier League. Incidentally, Kandy Tuskers roped in the service of the Universe Boss Chris Gayle for their very first season.
All the 23 matches in the tournament will be held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, according to an official media release.
