Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant Not Worried About Getting Out: Sanjay Manjrekar

Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar seems to be impressed with the new breed of Indian cricketers Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan. Their fearless approach towards playing their game has made the cricket expert take notice of them and praise them for the way they have played the game so far. Making his T20I debut Kishan scored a match-winning 56 and Pant also chipped in with a crucial 21. India won the game by seven wickets and drew level in the series.

Sanjay Manjrekar was all praises for the young Indian batsmen, especially Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant, and said that for them getting out is not a worry, but they look to hit every ball for a six or four.

Kishan, Pant Not Worried About Getting Out: Sanjay Manjrekar

“The thing to like about Ishan Kishan is that he is an excellent player of spin. But more importantly, what is exciting me is that these are batsmen who are not afraid to get out. Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan… they are not looking to extend their innings. No long-term plans. It’s just about hitting that next ball for fours and six, and if it is their day, they will get you a big score,” Manjrekar said on ESPNCricinfo.

Sanjay Manjrekar further praised the duo saying that they will put the team in a winning position even if they do not bat for long, which allows other batsmen to come in and wrap the game up.

“If they don’t play long enough, they will put you in a position like this where the other batsmen will come and wrap things up. That’s where I think Indian T20 batting might start showing a different phase where most of their batsmen won’t be caring about getting out and playing long innings,” he added.

Apart from Kishan and Pant, Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 73 as he returned back to form. he also went past 3000 T20I runs and became the first batsmen to get to the feat. India will face England in the third T20I on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi stadium behind closed doors. The remaining two games will also be played in empty stands.
