Shahid Afridi has always been known as one of the popular cricketers all around the globe. The former Pakistan all-rounder is still playing cricket as he is representing the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Nevertheless, Afridi’s age has always been a topic of discussion as various platforms reveal his age differently.
The chaos began in 2019 when Shahid Afridi released his autobiography. The former Pakistan cricketer had written that he was born in 1975 and not 1980 as the formal records state. It was assumed that Afridi was just 16-year-old when made his debut in 1996 but according to his autobiography, he was 19.
“I was just nineteen, and not sixteen like they claim. I was born in 1975. So yes, the authorities stated my age incorrectly,” Afridi wrote in a book titled ‘Game Changer’.
Now on his birthday, Afridi has once again surprised everyone as he now claimed that he is 44 years old today. According to various cricket-related websites as well as ICC’s records, Afridi should have been 41 while according to his autobiography, he should have been 46 today.

Meanwhile, whatever his real age maybe there’s no denying that Afridi one of the all-time great Pakistan cricketers. He won countless matches with both bat and ball for Pakistan in the 2000s in white-ball cricket. Afridi was the man of the match in the 2009 T20 world final when Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka to lift the cup.
Furthermore, Afridi is currently fully focused on the ongoing PSL and wants to make winning contributions for Multan Sultans. He will be next seen in action on Wednesday when his side will take on Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.
