Stuart Broad was pleasingly surprised after International Cricket Council (ICC) refreshed the rankings of Test match bowlers. The England fast bowler who last played a Test match in August leapfrogged Neil Wagner and once again reached the 2nd spot in the ICC rankings. After the conclusion of the Test series between New Zealand and West Indies, ICC again renewed the rankings.

New Zealand fast bowler Neil Wagner was placed at the second spot behind Pat Cummins of Australia. The ICC rankings often change their rankings after every Test match which confuses everyone including the players. So after Wagner failed to pick wickets in the Test series against West Indies he slipped down to the number 3 spot in the ICC rankings.

The underrated Kiwi speedster now has 840 points whereas Broad who jumped to the second spot has 845 points. After ICC announced their new rankings Stuart Broad once again showed his witty sense of humour and trolled ICC. Broad took a dig at ICC and reminded them that he last played a Test match in August but still gained points in the rankings.

“Stuart Broad has displaced Neil Wagner to recapture the No.2 spot in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings for bowling”, ICC posted the latest Test rankings on their official Instagram handle and captioned the post.

“How? I’ve not played since August”, commented Stuart Broad with a laughing emoji that amused everyone.

Meanwhile, after Kane Williamson missed the third Test against West Indies he slipped one spot in the ICC rankings and is now placed 3rd. The Indian captain Virat Kohli is at the second spot in the Test batsmen rankings and Steve Smith comfortably places at the summit. Apart from Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are the other two Indian batsmen in the top 10 of ICC Test batsmen rankings.
