Former cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth is happy for KL Rahul as the India opener did not play on the challenging Indore wicket, where the third test of the Border Gasavkar Trophy took place. The hosts lost the test by nine wickets. Srikkanth pointed out that the surface was challenging for batters.

Team India was bowled out for 109 runs in the first innings. Australia took the first-innings lead as they made 197 runs. In response, India managed to score 163 runs, setting the visitors a target of 75 runs. Australia chased it down comfortably. Team India opener KL Rahul was dropped from the match. Kris Srikkanth expressed in a video on his Youtube channel,

“First and foremost, I am happy for KL Rahul. Thankfully, good that he did not play. If he had played on these wickets, and failed to get going in the next two Tests, and if his career had ended… thank god, he didn’t play. Frankly, speaking.”

“On these pitches, batting is very difficult. Whoever it is, batting is difficult. Let it be anybody, be it Virat Kohli, no one can score runs on these pitches. If you looked at it, Kuhnemann, bowling in the first innings, got the ball to rip through and turn square,” he added.

Taking wickets is not a big thing on these wickets: Kris Srikkanth

The Indore pitch for the third Test between India and Australia was rated ‘poor’ by the ICC. Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth expressed that taking wickets wasn’t hard on the surface. He quipped that even he would have picked wickets on such challenging pitches. Kris Srikkanth said,

“On these wickets, taking wickets is not a big thing. Even if I had bowled, I would have picked up wickets. These are all hard talks, we have to accept them.”

The fourth and final test of the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy will take place from Thursday, March 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The series stands 2-1 in India’s favor, heading into the final test.
