[WATCH] Digvesh Rathi Breaks Silence On His Viral Notebook Celebration In IPL 2025

At a recent press conference, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi was questioned about the story behind his viral notebook celebration. The 25-year-old explained that he always carries a notebook during tournaments to jot down the names of the batters he has taken out.

When asked how the unique celebration began, Rathi shared the following during the conference:

“About the start, whenever there is a tournament, I carry a notebook and write down all the names,” he said in a video released by LSG.

Digvesh Rathi‘s signature celebration has garnered widespread attention, but it has also landed him in trouble on several occasions. The spinner was fined 25% and 50% of his match fees for performing the celebration during games against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), respectively.

Following a heated exchange with SRH’s Abhishek Sharma during his celebration, Digvesh Rathi was fined 50% of his match fees and suspended for one game after accumulating five demerit points. As a result, he missed LSG’s recent win over Gujarat Titans, where the team won by 33 runs.

Digvesh Rathi remains a key positive in LSG’s IPL 2025 struggles

Digvesh Rathi was signed by the Lucknow-based franchise for his base price of ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The leg spinner justified their trust with impressive performances in his debut season.

He leads LSG’s wicket tally this season, taking 14 wickets with an economy rate of 8.18 in 12 matches. Despite his efforts, the Rishabh Pant-led team had a poor season and missed out on the playoffs. With six wins from 13 games, LSG currently sits seventh on the IPL 2025 points table.

Their season will conclude with the final league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, May 27.
