The first Test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle has reached an interesting stage. On the first three days of the Test, Pakistan were in back foot position in the Test match. However, Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam stitched together an important partnership that helped the tourists reach a dominating position in the ongoing encounter.

Chasing the target of 342 runs, Abdullah and Imam-ul-Haq formed a 87 runs partnership. But Sri Lanka soon came back in the game by picking two quick wickets of Imam and Azhar Ali. Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam formed a 101 runs partnership to take Pakistan to a safe position.

Abdullah Shafique hit a brilliant century on the fourth day of the Test match at Galle. When Shafique reached his milestone, Babar Azam too looked thrilled and animated and celebrated the century of Shafique. The reaction of Babar Azam was such that it looked like he himself reached the century milestone.

“You have to score runs to remain in the side” – Dinesh Chandimal

Dinesh Chandimal has been the star of the Sri Lankan Test team this year. He was in brilliant form in the series against Australia where he smashed a double century. He followed it up with twin fifties in the first Test match against Pakistan on a spin-friendly track.

Dinesh Chandimal was extremely happy with his great form. Chandimal said, “I have been out of the side at times. That makes me stronger. You have to score runs to remain in the side. So I thought about the technique and how to keep myself not distracted and grab the opportunity when it came.”
