Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj produced famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous ‘siuu’ celebration during the 1st ODI against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The hosts managed to restrict the visitors to 176 runs after putting them to bat first.

Rohit Sharma, who is captaining India for the first time after being appointed as full-time limited-overs captain, opted to bowl first after winning the toss in Ahmedabad. India found a breakthrough early on as Mohammed Siraj crashed in through the gates of Shai Hope in the 3rd over.

The ball was pitched up again but Siraj was very smart to bowl the scrambled seam ball. Hope attempts a drive away from his body anticipating an away-swinger again, but the ball cuts back in off the seam, takes the inside edge and shatters middle and leg.

Mohammed Siraj was smart enough to bowl two outswingers and followed it up with an in-dipper to fox Shai Hope. The fast bowler from Hyderabad celebrated with a trademark CR7 celebration after knocking over the West Indies opener.

India continued on the pressure and reduced West Indies to 79/7 in the 23rd over, however, Jason Holder and Fabien Allen had a decent partnership for the 8th wicket as they added 78 runs to help their side post a decent total.

Mohammad Siraj bowled a quality spell with the new ball as he found success with the scrambled seam deliveries. Washington Sundar didn’t disappoint either as the middle order batters struggled against his grip and turn.

Yuzvendra Chahal too bowled a lovely spell in the middle orders to break the backbone of the West Indies batting order. Prasidh Krishna was the most economical of the lot and he got a couple of wickets in addition to it.
