
West Indies made history with a dominant 120-run win over Pakistan in the second Test in Multan on January 27, marking their first Test victory in Pakistan in 35 years. The last such win came in 1990 during the second Test of a three-match series that started on November 23 in Faisalabad.
Led by the iconic Desmond Haynes, West Indies leveled the series 1-1 with a seven-wicket triumph. After dismissing Pakistan for just 170 in the first innings, thanks to Ian Bishop’s four-wicket haul, West Indies were bowled out for 195 in response, allowing Pakistan a narrow lead.
Richie Richardson led the scoring with 44 runs off 66 balls, and in the second innings, West Indies bowled out Pakistan for just 154 runs. Malcolm Marshall was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 24 runs in just 4.2 overs. This set West Indies a target of 130 runs in the final innings.
Richardson (70* off 86 balls) and Carl Hooper (33* off 67 balls) guided their team past the target, securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
After losing the first Test by eight wickets, West Indies leveled the series 1-1, which ended in a draw, before making history with their 120-run win in Multan on January 27, 2025—their first Test victory in Pakistan in 35 years.
West Indies make historic comeback to draw series with win over Pakistan
Pakistan won the first Test of the 2024-25 series in Multan by 127 runs, taking a 1-0 lead. However, West Indies made a strong comeback to win the second Test and level the series.
In the second Test, West Indies were bowled out for 163 in their first innings, with Gudakesh Motie top-scoring with 55. But they responded by dismissing Pakistan for just 154, with Jomel Warrican taking four wickets and Motie claiming three.
Captain Kraigg Brathwaite contributed 52 off 74 balls in the second innings, helping West Indies set a target of 254. Warrican then delivered with the ball again, taking five wickets as Pakistan were bowled out for 133, giving West Indies a 120-run victory and a 1-1 series draw.
