Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari went unsold at the IPL 2021 players auction in Chennai on February 18. As many as 61 sports were to be filled out of which 57 were ultimately filled with franchisees going all out to seek the players they were looking for. Chris Morris became the most expensive player of the night as he went to the Rajasthan Royals. The enigmatic Glen Maxwell went to RCB for 14.25 crores. Meanwhile, the likes of Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Jason Roy amongst others failed to get a franchise. 

Meanwhile, after going unsold at the IPL 2021 auctions, Hanuma Vihari made an interesting tweet that made the world notice. “LOL” tweeted Vihari after the franchises ignored him at the auction.

Hanuma Vihari Reacts After Going Unsold

Hanuma Vihari was in the Indian Test squad which beat Australia in Australia to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy. He and Ravichandran Ashwin batted India out of danger and helped India to draw the Test match in Sydney to keep the team in the hunt to win the series, which ultimately they did. He batted for a 161 ball 23 with Ashwin scoring a patient 39 to take India to safety at Sydney.

Hanuma Vihari has featured in a total of 74 T20 matches so far, scoring 1,355 runs at a strike-rate of 112.35. He had failed to draw a bid in the IPL 2020 auction too despite keeping his base price at Rs. 50 lakh. This year, in comparison, his base price of twice that.

 In the IPL, Vihari has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013, 2015 and was a part of the Delhi Capitals team in 2019. So far in 24 IPL matches, he has a total of 284 runs to his name as well as a wicket.
