Mumbai Indians lost the Super Over against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai in match 10 of IPL 2020. This was MI’s first defeat ever in a Super Over. While for RCB it was a good victory after a competitive performance in the match. Ishan Kishan was awarded the Man of the Match after his brilliant knock of 99. However, Rohit Sharma did not send him to bat in the Super Over, which became the talking point in the RCB vs MI contest. Later in the post-match press conference, Rohit revealed the reason for doing so Rohit said Kishan was ‘drained out’ by the end of his knock.
“With Polly being there, anything can happen, and Ishan can hit it. We had the belief that we could do it. They held their nerves although we put pressure. (Kishan) was drained out and he was not comfortable for the Super Over. He was not feeling fresh and Hardik is someone we trust hitting the long balls” said Rohit.
The MI skipper also said that it was a great game to be a part of for the sheer competitiveness that both teams show.
“It was a great game. We were not in the game at all when we started with the bat. Great innings by Ishan to get us back. Polly was brilliant as usual. Just that we didn’t start well, I thought we could have got 200 with the batting we have,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
