The IPL 2020 has been three phases in the tournament so far. Teams preferred chasing in the first half. With the pitches tiring in the second half and the playing conditions also changing, teams opted to bat first in the second half of the season.

Again in the final phase of the tournament, with dew coming into play, teams have again preferred batting second. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has explained the reason behind this move from the majority of the teams.

Speaking on his app, Tendulkar pointed out that in the first of the tournament teams were facing problems in chasing because the pitch temperature was going down; however, this has not been the case in the last two weeks of the tournament.

“The pitch temperature was coming down in the second innings when the tournament started. If you have noticed, teams chasing in the first phase of the tournament specially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were not successful, they kept losing matches and suddenly in the last 7-8 days or so, teams are chasing consistently wherever they are playing,” said Tendulkar in a video posted on his app ‘100 MB’.

Sachin Tendulkar further explained how the dew factor has played it into the hands of the batsmen, which is why they are chasing comfortable in the second half of the game.

“In the second innings, the ball is now getting marginally wet, when the ball is wet, it skids on, you just have to see for the first four overs, when the ball flattens up, batting is becoming easy” said the batting legend.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians start off the IPL 2020 playoffs with the first qualifier in Dubai. Mumbai topped the league stage with 18 points, Delhi finished second on 16. RCB and SRH finished with 14 each respectively.

Delhi and Mumbai play the first qualifier in Dubai on Thursday. RCB will be taking on SRH in the eliminator clash on Friday, November 6 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The winner of that match will face the loser of the Mumbai Indians-Delhi Capitals clash to progress to the finals of the tournament.
