Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed last in the points table heading into the UAE leg of IPL 2021. They are the only team in the tournament who depend heavily on their overseas players to win them every game they play. Manish Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Vijay Shankar are the other key players in the squad who come up with performances time to time But is their big three in David Warner, Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan who will hog the limelight in UAE as well. Put Jonny Bairstow in and it completes the core of the SRH side.
In this article, we take a look at three SRH players who can dominate the UAE leg and make a turnaround in the tournament.
Kane Williamson
Williamson was handed over the captaincy midway through the season after the side lost games under Warner. However, he did not have a good start to his captaincy as well losing the first game that he led. With the bat, he scored 128 runs in four games. The SRH management was under a huge dilemma to bring Williamson into the playing XI.
Now that he is the captain, he has seven more matches to make a statement and take the side to the IPL final. He did that as the captain of the side in 2018 in the absence of Warner and there is no reason why he cannot do it once again.
David Warner
Warner scored 193 runs playing just six games with one fifty. The management decided to not only to remove him as captain but also drop him from the playing XI. His removal from the playing XI became one of the talking points from the first half-season of the season.
Warner over the years has cored almost 60-70 percent of the team’s runs and in the remaining season, he is once again their key player. Alongside him and Williamson, Pandey and Vijay also need to come up with scores if they are to give themselves any chance of making the playoffs and beyond.
Rashid Khan
The SRH management has confirmed Rashid Khan’s availability for the UAE leg after the recent political unrest in Kabul led to the loss of lives. Rashid was moved emotionally and has pleased the world leaders to help his country in these hard times. He recently played in The Hundred and will play the UAE leg.
The leggie took 10 wickets from his first seven games and another 10 in the remaining seven games will surely give his team the best chance to make the playoffs. Rashid will be critical with the bat too given the cameos he has played for his team in the tournament in the past.
