Delhi Capitals youngster and opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has revealed how he has improved his batting after he had a poor outing in Australia after which he was dropped from the team. Prithvi Shaw scored a match-winning 72 of just 38 deliveries with 9 fours and 3 cracking sixes. He along with Shikhar Dhawan who also played a cracker of an innings took the match away from Chennai Super Kings.

Prithvi Shaw said that he worked on his back and across movement after the Australia series which has really helped him score loads of runs in recent times. He added 827 runs in 8 innings in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare trophy.

He said that these small changes in his technique minimized his mistakes and allowed him to play his natural game.

“From Australia when I was dropped, I worked on the back-and-across movement. I started to work on it in Australia itself. I focussed on it with Pravin [Amre] sir as well. I had a good plan before going into the tournament [Vijay Hazare Trophy]. I think it is working quite well.” Prithvi Shaw said after the match vs CSK.

‘I made some small changes in my batting before the IPL. I just wanted to minimize all the mistakes I was making, and I worked hard,’ said Shaw.

I should have finished the game against Chennai – Prithvi Shaw

Earlier, Prithvi Shaw’s bat would come down at an angle from the gully region, causing problems with the incoming deliveries but after working with Pravin Amre, the back-lift is more straightened reducing the gap between bat and pad.

Prithvi Shaw was happy after the win vs CSK and said that he wanted to stay in the middle for longer and see the game through but unfortunately, he got out. He rated his inning an 8 out of 10.

‘It was a great win for us; however, I should’ve stayed in the middle until the end. So, if I have to rate my innings out of 10, I will give an 8 to myself.’ Prithvi Shaw after his innings.

Prithvi Shaw will be seen in action again for the Delhi Capitals again on 15th April against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
