Sharjah Wicket Is Not Good To Bat On – Sanju Samson

Well, Sanju Samson was in a different mood altogether today. He was just connecting everything so well that at one point it felt like Samson might just notch up a ton here.

Chennai Super Kings after winning the toss put Rajasthan Royals to bat first at Sharjah. Since the pitch had no layer of grass over it, it was expected that we would see lots of runs being scored in today’s game. Rajasthan Royals opened with a new pair as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Steve Smith opened the innings for the Royals.

After losing Jaiswal early on in the innings, it was all about the Samson show in Sharjah. Samson targeted the CSK spinners by hitting them straight back down the ground. In the mid innings break, Samson revealed that the wicket isn’t great to bat as its slow. As a result, he had to wait for the ball to pitch in the right area before going for a big heave.

“I had a really good time in the middle and hopefully we can win this. It was not a good wicket. The Pitch was slow and I had to wait for the ball, it was not easy to hit if they bowled it on a length. It is slow right now and hopefully, we can capitalize on that. With our bowling line-up, we are confident of defending this total.”

He struck a valuable partnership with Steve Smith which helped them get past 100 in less than 10 overs time. Samson regarded it as an absolute pleasure to bat with Smith. Also praised his captain for holding down his nerve until the final over of the innings.

“Absolute pleasure to bat with Smith, he is one of the world’s greatest batsman and when he goes out and bats 20 overs, it becomes easy for the others coming in. I asked Tom how does Sam bowl in the powerplay, he didn’t give any clues. I will have to find out how he bowls in the next match.”
