Although the series is formally lost, Sri Lanka will be looking to salvage some Super League points from the 3rd ODI against India. It will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 23, Friday.

Dasun Shanaka led-Sri Lanka continues to plunge further. After bossing the second innings, they faltered at an inopportune moment in the 2nd ODI. It is probably down to their lack of experience in winning for a while now. Lankan batsmen performed well, with Avishka Fernando and Charith Asalanka scoring fifties.

The former threw his wicket, however, a thing that has become synonymous with Sri Lanka now. Through another fine cameo from Chamika Karunaratne, they put up a defendable 275/9 on the board. Wanindu Hasaranga stole the show with the ball, bamboozling three Indian batsmen but his efforts went in vain due to a lower order resistance. It might be time to make changes for the 3rd ODI.

India on the other hand has once again found heroes in adversity. It was Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who helped them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in the 2nd ODI. However, their top-order batsmen will be hoping for a better show. They will be watchful with their shot-making, which brought about their downfall the last time around.

In the bowling section, Bhuvneshwar got into the wickets column which is a good sign for the Men in Blue. It was not the best of games for Kuldeep though, and India will be tempted to bring Rahul Chahar or Varun Chakravarthy in his place. The rest might hang on to their places for the 3rd ODI.
