Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a humorous response when asked about head coach Gautam Gambhir during his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show. Known for his straightforward nature, Pant admitted he doesn’t hold back and always gives honest answers when questioned.
The episode, which aired on Saturday, July 5, also featured batter Abhishek Sharma and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal alongside Pant and Gambhir. During the show, Pant was asked whether Gambhir is serious in the dressing room or enjoys lighter moments. In his trademark witty style, Pant laughed and replied:
“Saare galat kaam mere se hi karwate hain (All wrong things are done through me only).”
Clarifying his remark, the wicketkeeper-batter further explained:
“For any normal, internal stuff, when someone asks me, I can’t keep my mouth shut. I won’t say it unprompted, but if someone asks, I don’t hold back.”

“Team Atmosphere Is Relaxed, But Pressure Depends on Match Situation”- Pant
Speaking more seriously, the 27-year-old noted that the team atmosphere is generally quite calm and laid-back. However, he acknowledged that the mood can shift based on how the match is unfolding. The wicketkeeper-batter added:
“Normally, the environment is quite relaxed. It all depends on the match situation. Everyone feels the pressure based on how the match is progressing. It’s just part of the game.”
Head coach Gautam Gambhir joined the conversation, drawing a playful comparison between his role in the team and that of the show’s host, Kapil. The former Indian cricketer humorously remarked:
“The same goes for what the situation would be if the show isn’t doing well. If the team doesn’t perform well, the coach is the first to be kicked out.”
Pant Shines Bright With The Bat On England Tour
Rishabh Pant has been in outstanding touch with the bat during the ongoing Test series in England. Despite India suffering a five-wicket defeat in the opening Test at Leeds, the left-hander stood out with centuries in both innings. He struck 134 off 178 deliveries in the first innings and followed it up with 118 off 140 in the second, becoming only the second wicketkeeper-batter after Andy Flower to register twin hundreds in a Test match.
