The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has come down hard on human lives. A complete lockdown has been prevailing in most parts of the world in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly disease. The cricketers are also playing a significant role in raising awareness and Bangladesh Premier League franchise Chattogram Challengers are leaving no stones unturned to spread the message by illustrious cricketers across the length and breadth of the country.
Since COVID-19 broke out in China, it has spread like wildfire with the United States of America, Italy, Spain being the most affected countries. India have also witnessed a steep growth in the number of positive cases in the last few days with death toll almost touching 600 at the time of writing this article.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is also witnessing a sharp growth in the number of cases with more than 400 new cases coming out each day. Those figures are still relatively low compared with the worst-hit regions including China, parts of Europe and the United States. But there are more chances of spreading in the coming days considering that millions live in packed slums with fragile public health systems.
Amid the outbreak of the pandemic, Chattogram Challengers team came up with a social awareness program. The Chattogram Challengers Managing Director Dato K.M Rifatuzzaman came up with this idea to spread positive awareness. Cricketers from different parts of the world who represent Chottogram are spreading important messages through video clips.
Speaking to Cricfit, Chattogram managing director Rifatuzzaman revealed what transpired him to come up with this initiative. The young and passionate sports lover wanted to use their fan base to spread the right knowledge and information and interact with more people to curb its spread. Moreover, Syed Yasir Alam, the Chief Operating Officer of Chattogram Challengers also expressed that sending a proper and positive message to the fans is most important.
“As we all are sitting at home with aiming to keep our self and others safe. I was thinking what can we really do to inform more and more people about COVID-19. Then I thought as Chattogram Challengers has very good fan following and team players are icons. If they said something in simpler language so that maximum people can understand and would listen to them,” Rifatuzzaman said.
“As the message will interact more and more people. There is fact that everyone is contributing with money or food which is helping people to survive but it is also important to share the right knowledge and information to the mass people to help them prevent this virus. The platform of Chattogram Challengers is the best way of this awareness,” he added.
Moreover, Chattogram Challengers have also forwarded donation among the needy in various parts of the country. K.M Rifatuzzaman hopes that their small effort helps Bangladesh to defeat the deadly virus. Meanwhile, the managing directors are planning to do more video sessions with the star cricketers in the coming days.
“We would like to do more interactive online sessions with our players and team management. With some celebrities as they can also help us spread the message. Chattogram Challengers have already provided gifts in different areas of the country like Fordnagar (Savar), Singair, Manikganj and also have plans to provide gifts during the month of Ramadan within our capacity.
And we hope our simple efforts with sharing awareness and providing gifts to people who meeds the most will have a possible impact preventing the virus. I personally thank all the players of Chattogram Challengers who appreciated the plan and came up right away,” he concluded.
