Delhi Capitals Pacer Avesh Khan Reacts To MS Dhoni’s Wicket In IPL 2021

Dismissing an Indian Cricket star. That’s the dream!! Avesh Khan the Delhi Capitals fast bowler lived the dream when he was able to dismiss the former Indian world cup winning captain MS Dhoni. The Chennai skipper walked into bat in the 16th over of the innings. Everyone all over the country was extremely excited to watch him bat after 5 months, but everyone’s happiness was short-lived as Dhoni departed for a duck having faced only two balls.

Avesh Khan was absolutely ecstatic and for good reason. He had just dismissed one of the greatest players to grace the game. The Delhi bowler revealed that it was always his dream to dismiss MS Dhoni. He said that they had the opportunity in 2018 but unfortunately the catch was dropped.

Three years later my dream is fulfilled – Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan bowled a quick wide ball and MS Dhoni dragged the ball onto his stumps fulfilling Avesh’s dream of getting MSD’s wicket after 3 years.

“Three years ago Mahi bhai’s (MS Dhoni) catch was dropped. Mahi bhai’s wicket is my dream wicket, and now three years later I’ve fulfilled that dream and I’m very happy about it. It’s also that he hasn’t played cricket in a while, he hasn’t been playing matches, so our plan was to initially maintain pressure on him, and I got the wicket because of the pressure,” said Avesh said in a video shared by Delhi Capitals.

Avesh also said what kind of changes and sacrifices he made in order to make it to the level he has reached today. He said he reduced weight and followed an extremely strict diet. He gave up on his favourite dishes and also put in more effort in the gym. He worked on his fitness and that has helped him a lot.

“I have reduced my weight by 5 kg. I have hired a personal dietician and I plan my diet according to the dietician’s directions. My diet plan changes on a day-to-day basis, depending on my gym and training sessions and rest days. Improving my fitness has helped me a lot. I am feeling light, and I feel great when I run. I had to sacrifice some of my favourite dishes for 20-25 days, but that has helped me to stay on track for achieving some of my personal goals,” he added.

Avesh Khan played an important part in Delhi’s victory over CSK in the second match of IPL 2021. He picked two important wickets of Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni. Avesh will be seen in action for the Delhi Capitals next against the Rajasthan Royals on April 15th.
