IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals To Retain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje And Prithvi Shaw

IPL 2022 promises to be a mouth-watering event but it is the auction that is grabbing all the headlines for now. Most of the teams are planning their retentions and with many good players around it is certainly difficult. Delhi Capitals have been one of the strongest contenders for the title in the last 2 seasons.

With many reports going around it seems as if the Capitals will retain their current captain Rishabh Pant. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel who did well in the recently concluded New Zealand series is set to be retained. These are two solid Indian options that the Delhi Capitals are opting for. Apart from these two, it is reported that opener Prithvi Shaw who has been in the fine form will also be retained.

Delhi wants their core youth back as they look to aim for their first-ever IPL title. They have also retained the services of South African pace spearhead Anrich Nortje. He has been the captains’ go-to bowler whenever the team requires a wicket.

According to various reports Shreyas Iyer has decided to go back into the auction. Iyer who made his Test debut with a cracking fifty today has decided to go into the auction. He was not part of the first leg of the IPL this season and had a mediocre second leg.

It also has been reported that Rishabh Pant will be Delhi’s first retained player while Prithvi Shaw will be the second.

The franchise has been doing well since the 2019 edition making it to the playoffs for three consecutive IPL seasons. They also made it to the final of IPL 2020 only to lose it to Mumbai Indians who won the trophy for the record fifth time.
