It was a cracking contest between Suryakumar Yadav and speedster Anrich Nortje in qualifier 1 of IPL 2020. Nortje has been one of the standout bowlers of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020. The fast bowler from South African has bowled with pace and accuracy which has tormented several batsmen this season. Nortje once again played a critical role for his side in the playoffs match against Mumbai Indians at Dubai.
Batting once MI was stunned early as Ravichandran Ashwin sent Rohit Sharma packing for a golden duck. That brought the in-form Suryakumar Yadav to the crease and he timed the ball crisply from ball one. The right-handed batsman continued his prolific batting form this season and smashed the DC bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Anrich Nortje Imitates Suryakumar Yadav’s Celebration
The momentum of the match shifted towards MI as Suryakumar Yadav looked unstoppable. The 30-year-old notched up yet another fifty this season and was all set for a big one. DC was under the pump as Surya was shifting gears and had his site on a mammoth total.
To dismiss a dangerous-looking Surya, skipper Shreyas Iyer took the gamble and brought back his strike bowler Nortje. The plan of Nortje was simple to Surya as he bowled a barrage of bouncers and asked him to it to the longer part of the ground.
In the 12th Surya didn’t hold back and took the short bowl on of Nortje as he tried depositing him in the stands. He couldn’t time the ball perfectly and hold out to the men patrolling the deep square leg boundary. The move of Iyer once again paid dividends as Nortje once again picked a massive wicket at a crucial juncture in the match.
Meanwhile, it was the reaction of Nortje after dismissing Surya that caught the attention of everyone. After taking the wicket Nortje gave Surya a send-off and was seen mimicking his celebration. The fast bowler patted himself on his chest and after he had removed Surya much like what the batsman had done after winning the match against Virat Kohli’s RCB.
In a tense match in which Surya was sledged by Kohli, the MI batsman waited for the right opportunity to rejoice. After he took his side home Surya was seen pointing at himself and suggesting he had the match under control. Well, Nortje surely saw that celebration and performed a replica of Surya’s celebration after sending him to the pavilion.
