Chetan Sakariya had a dream start to his IPL cricket having taken a wicket off his second over. He dismissed Punjab Kings opener Mayank Agarwal for just 14 and gave his team an early wicket. This was after Royal skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first. Both teams have a galaxy of superstars and the Royals youngster is one to watch out for. The Royals finished last in IPL 2020 which is why they have added several new faces into their squad ahead of the new season and Sakariya is one of them.

It was just the third over of the Punjab Kings innings when Sakariya struck. He got Mayank caught behind and celebrated his maiden IPL wicket. He also gave a send-off to Mayank which he did not like one bit.

However, since Mayank’s wicket, Punjab have made a great comeback into the game. While the Rajasthan bowlers have taken a lot of pounding. Deepak Hooda scored a quickfire fifty to back up a classy fifty scored by skipper KL Rahul. In between, there has been some poor fielding from the Royals. They have dropped as many as three chances in the field. Sakariya then picked a ripper of catch after dismissing Agarwal.

Both teams have a number of fresh faces in the XI. The four overseas players for the Royals are Chris Morris, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Mustafizur Rahman. On the other hand, KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings opted for Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Jhye Richardson, and Riley Meredith.

The two teams finished as the last two teams in IPL 2020. While Punjab finished seventh, the Royals after winning their first two games finished last at the end of the league stage.

Chetan Sakariya picked up 12 wickets from five games for Saurashtra in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. The season was won by Mumbai beating Uttar Pradesh in the final.
