[WATCH]- Prince Yadav Ends Ben Duckett’s Record-Breaking Knock With Sharp Return Catch

India fast bowler Prince Yadav picked up his maiden wicket of the match by dismissing England opener Ben Duckett after the latter’s record-breaking century in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at Lord’s, London, on Sunday, July 19.

Duckett’s innings came to an end on the third delivery of the 44th over. Prince delivered a slower short ball into the pitch, tempting the left-hander to play across the line. However, Duckett only managed a toe-ended return catch, which Prince safely held to end his outstanding knock.

Duckett smashed 141 off 135 deliveries, hitting 18 fours and a six to register the highest individual ODI score at Lord’s. In doing so, he eclipsed Viv Richards’ unbeaten 138 from 157 balls, recorded against England in the 1979 World Cup final.

Ben Duckett’s Brilliant Century Powers England Towards Massive Total

After electing to bat first, England received a solid start from openers Jacob Bethell and Ben Duckett, who put together a 58-run stand inside the powerplay. The partnership flourished as Bethell reached his fifty in 51 balls during the 16th over, helping England move to 125/0 after 20 overs.

Duckett followed with a half-century of his own, bringing it up in 64 deliveries in the 22nd over. The opening duo stitched together a 192-run partnership from 181 balls before Prasidh Krishna ended the stand by dismissing Bethell for a well-made 91 off 93 deliveries in the 31st over, denying him a century.

Joe Root then joined Duckett at the crease, and the pair maintained England’s scoring rate. Duckett’s outstanding innings came to an end at 141 off 135 balls, featuring 18 fours and a six, after he was caught and bowled by Prince Yadav. Before his dismissal, he and Root had added 101 runs off just 80 balls for the second wicket.

Root also continued his impressive form by registering another half-century. At the time of writing, England were 315/2 after 46 overs, with Root unbeaten on 50 from 39 balls and Harry Brook batting on 10 off nine deliveries.
